The management committee members of AID Indonesia have had involvement with the people of Indonesia for several years prior to the tsunami & earthquake, but as a result of these two catastrophes, a huge need has evolved & opportunity for greater assistance has arisen.
We consider that as Indonesia is one of Australia’s closest neighbours, we have a responsibility to these people.
We currently care for children on the island of Sumatra providing accommodation in our new facilities. At this point we have 48 children, some of whom have been re-located from Nias Island as well as from various other parts of Indonesia that have been orphaned, abandoned or due to extreme poverty can no longer be cared for by their family.
All the children are enjoying their new life which gives them all the opportunity for consistent school, better nutrition and health and a loving family atmosphere to live in.
We are undertaking negotiations with government departments and local hospitals to be able to continue to assist more children in the nation of Indonesia
